Climafresh, the thermal flexible polyurethane foam

Climafresh is a flexible polyurethane foam family characterized by an innovative formulation and production technology, that gives hygienical and thermalbenefits to the final product, conferring unique properties to the polyurethane.

Compared to a not thermal conventional polyurethane, Thermofresh is able to absorb heat thanks to the fusion of the PCM microcapsules which are inside it, maintaining in this way a constant temperature for a long time. The anti-moulds and anti-bacteria characteristic is present thanks to the use of the Ultrafresh treatment, which foresees the combination of more elements, such as silver.

Absorbing heat emanated by a body in contact with the material, Thermofresh has got the capability of maintaining a constant temperature in the space of normal use (between 28° and 35°C), for a considerably longer time than a not Thermofresh polyurethane.

The certificates produced in collaboration with the Industrial Chemistry Department “Toso Montanari” – Alma Mater Studiorum – Bologna University, show the constant performance of Thermofresh, even after ageing tests in laboratory. Even hygienical properties of the prevention of moulds and bacteria proliferation remain unchanged during all the product lifetime.

FAQ

What is Climafresh?
Climafresh is a family of flexible polyurethane foams characterized by an innovative formulation technology and production, which contributes thermal and hygienic benefits to the finished product, giving the polyurethane product unique features.

How does Climafresh work?
Climafresh, compared to a conventional non-thermal polyurethane, has the ability to absorb heat through the fusion of PCM microcapsules contained inside it, thus maintaining the temperature constant for a long time. The antibacterial-antimold feature instead is conferred through the use of the Ultrafresh treatment that provides for the combination of several elements including silver.

Is Climafresh colder than other polyurethanes?
No. Climafresh is not colder than another polyurethane; Climafresh, by absorbing the heat emanating from a body in contact with the material, possesses the ability to maintain a constant temperature in the range of normal use (between 28 and 35° C), for significantly longer, compared to a polyurethane that is not Climafresh.

What is the duration of Climafresh polyurethane?
Climafresh polyurethane has the same duration of any high-quality polyurethane foam. The certificates produced in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Chemistry and Materials – Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna; show the Climafresh consistent performance, even after accelerated aging tests in the laboratory (aging test). Even the hygienic characteristics of prevention of the proliferation of mold and bacteria, remain almost unchanged, throughout the normal lifetime of the product.

What about maintenance (washing and cleaning) for Climafresh products?
The same methods normally used for any flexible polyurethane foam, are suitable for cleaning and maintenance of Climafresh products.

What is an Ultrafresh antimicrobial treatment and why is it necessary?
The Ultrafresh antimicrobial treatment involves the use of silver in the form of water-soluble compound for the slow release of ions; this particular technology, applied to the Climafresh polyurethane helps prevent a definitive and lasting proliferation of microbes and bacteria, ensuring the end user, a hygienically safe product.

Does the Ultrafresh treatment affect the physical-mechanical features of the polyurethane in which it is contained?
No. There are no significant differences between the mechanical properties of polyurethane treated with Ultrafresh and untreated polyurethane. The mechanical properties of a polyurethane foam, depend mainly on the raw materials (polyol/s and isocyanate/s) and the production process used for its production; the Ultrafresh treatment contributes to less than 1% by weight, of the total raw materials used and the manufacturing process of an Ultrafresh treated polyurethane, does not differ significantly compared to that of untreated polyurethane.

Are there any counter indications to the use of the Ultrafresh treatment?
No. According to current knowledge, there are no significant contraindications to the use of polyurethane treated with Ultrafresh, compared to untreated polyurethane.

Does washing (dry cleaning, soap or detergents) affect the Ultrafresh treatment?
It is advisable to have regular cleaning and washing performed by specialized experts, avoiding surface treatments with unknown and/or too aggressive products: if such cleaning operations are carried out correctly, the Ultrafresh treatment remains virtually unchanged throughout the lifetime of the material
